In the first incident in Barwadih village Latehar district, 120 km from here, suspected activists of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) abducted four supporters of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) Thursday night and killed them with sharp edged weapons.

Describing the incidents as an outcome of the struggle amongst Maoist groups, police said TPC members were the victims in the second killing in Bano jungle of Simdega district, about 130 km from here.

Three people said to be supporters of TPC were killed by Jharkhand Liberation Tigers (JLT).

Maoist rebels are active in 16 of the 22 districts of the state. Nearly 950 persons including 284 security personnel have been killed in last six years in Maoist related violence.

A report on TPC
………..This, in fact, has become part of an incipient problem for the Maoists, and has resulted in desertions by a number of corrupt elements at the local leadership level, who have absconded with substantial amounts, as well as the formation of rival ‘Maoist’ groups within the state. Two splinters, the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC, Third Preparatory Committee) and the Jharkhand Liberation Tigers (JLT) are now engaged in a bloody turf war, both with the parent CPI-Maoist, and with each other. The TPC, formed in 2002, now claims to have expanded its organisation across the state, and has declared that its “main enemy is not the police machinery, but the CPI-Maoist.
